Day 42 - Let's Go To America

Hi!

Currently, I am sitting on a plane to Greensboro, NC. Josh and I have left beautiful Paris for home. Joshua is sitting next to me drawing in one of his many new European sketchbooks. This one is small and has a marbleized paper front. It's very beautiful. We found it in a small paper store in Florence, Italy. He is bursting at the seams to start painting and sculpting again! I am writing and listening to music while we fly. It's a completely clear day. This is our third plane of the trip home.

Yesterday, we woke up in Paris and had a big breakfast at our favorite breakfast place called Rose Bakery. Everything is made by hand every day there and they always sell out. I will miss that place tremendously. After breakfast, we still had some time before going to the airport, so we went to a park near our apartment and sat for a bit watching the birds. The pigeons in Europe have NO fear. They pretty much peck your feet constantly.

Once at the airport, we boarded with little issues. We now have one more bag than before full of goodies but we still only have two carry-ons each! Yay for no checked bags! Our first flight was 8 hours long. European flights always offer complimentary wine - we took advantage of this. We landed in Boston with ease and had to find a hotel to stay at. The hotel we found cost more than any other night of our trip but it did the job of providing solid sleep. This morning, we woke up bright and early to catch our second flight to D.C. From Boston. Today is September 11th. The airport in Boston had a moment of silence for all the lost men and women. I'm very glad. We should always remember that day.

So now we are back to the beginning. Sitting on the plane from D.C. To Greensboro. When we land, Jay (Josh's dad and my father in-law) and Grandpa Roger will be picking us up to head straight to Philip and Jess's rehearsal dinner! Josh's older brother, Philip, is getting married tomorrow! YAY! So thank goodness for clear weather and safe flights. Josh is giving a speech at the wedding and I'm extremely curious to see how it goes as we might both be a bit jet lagged. Hehehe. I'm sure it will be wonderful!

I'm so thankful for the opportunity we had to take this trip. Once back, we will visit Josh's family in Charlotte and then mine in Atlanta. In two weeks, we will be moving to the Windy City of Chicago to begin new jobs and find a place to live! So many little puzzle pieces had to fit together for us to take this trip and I just want to say thank you to everyone who helped make it possible. It was a once in a lifetime trip that I will treasure for the rest of my life.

Love you guys,

Lilly
